Bangkok, Thailand
What’s the longest city name in the world?
Bangkok has many names. Village of the Plum Grove. Village of Islands. My favorite is what some refer to as the official name:
Krungthepmahanakhonamonrattanakosinmahintarayutthayamahadilok phopnoppharatratchathanburiromudomratchaniwetmahasatharnamorn phimanawatansathitsakkathatiyawisanukamprasit
Yes, that’s 167 letters, in case you were counting. The longest city name in the world. And it’s not just the letters that are jammed up… the traffic is a panic, too, even with the new elevated expressways. My favorite way to get around? The Tuk-Tuks, those motorized tri-shaws. They’re perfect for roaming the cobbled streets of the old quarter and pulling right up to any one of the countless food stalls.
That’s how I discovered one of my new favorite flavor combinations: shrimp and peanuts. It comes delicately spiced… I think I’ll have to try it in… yes.. a burger.
